I started the Ethical Leadership Programme with Simon when a number of people resigned from my team to move on to other roles. I had hoped that the leavers would be a major part of a management buyout. On reflection it became obvious that I was not giving the team enough scope to grow and that my style was not consistent with my succession plan, to pass my business over a thriving team.

The Ethical Leadership Programme has been transformational. I now understand better how I am perceived by the team. While there are positive aspects of my driving ambition I now realise that it was quite stifling for the team. I am now working with them on a high-challenge high-support model and the rewards have been incredible. We are still a work in progress, but after just nine months I am seeing that the team will be able to take over the business and I’ll be able to take more of a back-seat support role. I am realising my dream of passing over a successful business to the team.
